we have been delighted to work with a fabulous intern, hannah kohl, this summer who has brought so much fun energy to our team and supported us by designing and drafting drawings for one of our most exciting architectural projects! she will soon be graduating from colorado state university with a major in interior architecture and design and a minor in construction management! we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this promising young designer and general contractor! here are several drawings she designed for our OUT OF THE 80’S basement. we can’t wait to get started on it and bring it to life!
this design features a linear fireplace with a metal accent that wraps around the corner and extends the length of the fireplace. the curved step will be custom built to extend the staircase into the basement area and link it visually to the upstairs where the curved steps are a cool feature. the bench to the left side offers a cozy reading nook while the shelves to the right offer storage and display space. the nook where the shelves will float and the riser of the step will be adorned with penny tile, again tying the downstairs to the updated upstairs spaces. the bump out for the fireplace will be painted a barnwood grey on a smooth sheetrocked surface to offer an appropriate backdrop for the TV. the rest of the walls will be matched to the upstairs, where we picked cloud white by sherwin williams for a bright yet cozy atmosphere!
