bold and blue
this mid-century home deserved an updated kitchen that hints at its heritage while bringing in new and bold features that catapult this kitchen into the 21st century. the color palette is fun yet classic and dares to challenge conventional selections and choices.
the round, black island hood becomes a focal point in the space. walnut-stained and smokey blue base cabinets maintain a mid-century vibe and create a beautiful juxtaposition that further emphasizes the marriage of classic style to contemporary features.
it was time for the custom cabinets from the 70s to go and make way for a new functional design that finds its place in this original mid-century home.
intending to make the kitchen feel original to the house, we chose materials based on functionality and their vintage vibe. terrazzo tile, a three-dimensional backsplash, flat panel cabinets, matte black finishes, and cream-colored quartz with an angular waterfall bring this kitchen to life.
the wall between the dining room and kitchen was eliminated to create a more inviting space.
